Who We Are
Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. is a community based non-profit organization enhancing the quality of life by providing affordable housing and related services to eligible families.
Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc, was founded in 1976 in response to a City of McAllen Planning Department survey of the housing conditions in the city. The results brought to light the fact that many families were living in substandard conditions.
For the last 40 years, AHSTI has been dedicated to not only improving substandard housing conditions, but to also help prospective homebuyers achieve their dream of homeownership at a price they can afford.

At Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. (AHSTI), we are dedicated to transforming lives through access to safe, affordable housing. What began as an effort to improve substandard living conditions has grown into a comprehensive approach to community development and homeownership.
We build quality, affordable homes designed to provide stability and long-term value for families. Our work goes beyond construction. We develop entire neighborhoods that foster a sense of community, pride, and opportunity across South Texas.
AHSTI also empowers individuals and families with the tools they need to succeed as homeowners. As a HUD-approved counseling agency, we provide financial education, homebuyer guidance, and personalized support throughout the homebuying process. From preparing for homeownership to securing financing, we walk alongside our clients every step of the way.
Through our integrated approach, combining homebuilding, lending, and counseling, we serve as a trusted resource for low- to moderate-income families working toward a better future. With every home we build, we are not just creating houses—we are strengthening communities and opening doors to lasting opportunity.
