Who We Are

The Center is a homeless shelter that serves individuals and families in the area in need emergency housing assistance. It is located on a six-acre site, which is the property of the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville, and has a maximum capacity of 200 people.  

What We Do

Ozanam Center is an active member of Los Vecinos Coalition for the Homeless, The Rio Grande Valley Homeless Coalition (RGVC) and Texas Homeless Network. Services for the homeless are coordinated through strong collaborations with other coalition partners; Brownsville Adult Literacy Council - Provide onsite ESL and Adult Basic Education classes. Tip of Texas Family Outreach - Outreach & Parenting classes. Good Neighbor Settlement House - Soup and Kitchen facility, Homelessness prevention funds. Friendship of Women - Family Violence and Sexual Assault. In addition we also work closely with other City, Country, Public and Private Agencies. The Los Vecinos Homeless Coalition meets quarterly or as needed to discuss and coordinate services for the homeless.
