Harlingen Area Educational Foundation

The Harlingen Area Educational Foundation, Inc., an independent, non-profit corporation promoting quality education in Harlingen CISD schools, was established in 1990. It was organized to provide supplemental programs to support at-risk youth and to lower the dropout rate. The Foundation’s mission later expanded to generate and to distribute resources to enrich, to maintain, and to expand programs needed to meet the district’s stated mission of excellence in education.

The Foundation provides funds for educational programs and activities which either have not been funded or have been underfunded by the normal operating budget. These funds are used to facilitate student achievement and skill development and to expand community involvement for individuals, business and civic organizations.
