Needs From: Engagement Zone at UTRGV

Howdy! For Native Plant Month we are looking for volunteer help for our annual Planta Nativa Social held on Thursday, October 16. Volunteers will be helping people find their way around the event, label plant, as well as assist in transporting plants to a designated pick-up location for guests.

Planta Nativa Social is an annual event aimed at celebrating Native Plants. We aim to have vendors and plant sales that promote native plants and the benefit they have on our everyday lives. 

Please fill out our volunteer waiver if you haven't volunteered with us before.

Offsite parking and shuttle service will be available at 1400 Wichita Ave, south of La Plaza Mall.

Join us on Saturday mornings as we do land stewardship projects for Quinta Mazatlan. Volunteers will get to learn more about local ecology, sustainable landscaping practices, RGV biodiversity, and more, all while giving back to the ecosystems that support us.

Tasks include:

Plant seed collecting

Plant propagation (via seeds, vegetative propagation)

Planting trees, shrubs, vines

Basic garden care

Invasive species control

We recommend that volunteers bring their own garden gloves. Please contact Quinta Mazatlan for more information or if you have any questions about volunteering with us.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! By completing this form, you are agreeing to let us contact you about upcoming volunteer opportunities. We accept volunteers ages 14+, but if you are a minor, you will need a parent or authorized representative to sign a volunteer registration and release of liability. The form will appear during sign-up for you to accept, but minors will also need to print the signed release and bring it with them to Quinta Mazatlan when they come to volunteer.
