Volunteer: Mothing by Moonlight: Event Support & Visitor Assistance Team

Celebrate National Moth Week by helping support Mothing by Moonlight, an evening community event focused on observing and learning about local moth species through black light stations along the trail.

Volunteers will assist with a variety of event support tasks, including helping at the craft table, replenishing craft supplies, guiding and welcoming visitors, and assisting with event setup and breakdown of tables and chairs. Volunteers are also encouraged to explore the trail and visit the moth observation stations throughout the event.

This opportunity is perfect for students interested in environmental education, community engagement, conservation, and event support while helping create a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages.

Volunteer Duties:

Assist with craft table activities Restock and organize craft materials as needed Welcome and guide visitors throughout the event Assist with setup and breakdown of tables and chairs Support staff with general event operations

Join us on Friday mornings as we do land stewardship projects for Quinta Mazatlan. Volunteers will get to learn more about local ecology, sustainable landscaping practices, RGV biodiversity, and more, all while giving back to the ecosystems that support us.

Tasks include:

Plant seed collecting

Plant propagation (via seeds, vegetative propagation)

Planting trees, shrubs, vines

Basic garden care

Invasive species control

We recommend that volunteers bring their own garden gloves. Please contact Quinta Mazatlan for more information or if you have any questions about volunteering with us.
