GOOD NEIGHBOR SETTLEMENT HOUSE - BROWNSVILLE
Students will report to the Gran Salon on the Brownsville UTRGV campus for Orientation and Lunch (provided) at 11:15 am and will depart from the campus at 12:00 pm. Volunteers will return to campus by 4:00 pm.
All volunteers will receive a drawstring backpack with a Vaqueros Volunteer T-Shirt, water bottle, and UTRGV sunglasses. All students must wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops) and the Vaqueros Volunteer T-shirt while performing volunteer duties.
Volunteers will be separated into different teams to perform certain duties
- Client Team (3) Prepare Street Outreach Bags, Conduct inventory, Clean & Organize portable
- Pantry Team (3) Assist with food distribution, Conduct inventory, Clean & Organize pantry
- Kitchen Team (3) Assist with Meal Prep, Conduct inventory, Clean & Organize kitchen
- Respite Team (3) Assist with Meal Prep, Meal distribution, Conduct inventory, Clean & Organize Respite area
- Facilities Team (4) Assist with landscaping (painting tree trunks and sprucing up flower beds)
- Painting Team (4) Assist with the painting of the large office area on the 2nd floor above Mesa Llena
A student response form must be submitted at the end of the event before hours are approved.
