RGV Startup Week 2026 is a week-long celebration of entrepreneurship, innovation, and community across the Rio Grande Valley. Role Descriptions:

Support the transformation of The Hive as we prepare for Honey Fest 2026! Volunteers will assist with light construction tasks such as helping build walls, carrying lumber, and supporting setup activities like holding ladders.

This role is perfect for those who enjoy hands-on work and want to be part of building something meaningful for the community. No advanced skills are required—just a positive attitude and readiness to help.

We have and urgent need for help with supporting and updating content on our ahbpa.org and greentsunamifoods.com web sites. This is a critical position for the success of our agency.

Volunteers will be assisting with the B3 Scholar Ceremony which celebrates students who have completed bilingual (Spanish/English) coursework to highlight and recognize their bilingual and biliterate skills.

Volunteer Duties:

- Directing students, faculty, and family members to their seats

- Answering questions from students, family members or faculty

- Gathering and distributing index cards to organize students for the ceremony

- Setting up signage

- Setting up decorations

- Helping to clean up after the event

Be part of the excitement at Honey Fest by joining our Event Support Crew! Volunteers will assist with customer service throughout the festival, helping attendees find vendors, providing information about AHBPA, and supporting parking coordination.

Additional responsibilities may include assisting with general event needs, as well as helping with concert setup and teardown for the live performance featuring Brody Rivers. Training will be provided to ensure you feel confident in your role.

Description: Students work with the Sea Turtle Inc. marketing team to learn how conservation organizations use digital platforms to engage the public. Responsibilities include creating and organizing mission-related content for social media, documenting animal care, conservation work, nesting activity, and education programs, supporting digital storytelling through photos, short videos, and written content, and contributing ideas for campaigns that help people understand and support sea turtle conservation.

Schedule / Hours: Shifts typically range between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, split into 2–4 hour increments based on assignment.

Description: Students assist conservation staff with seasonal monitoring and protection efforts. Provides hands-on exposure to wildlife conservation and coastal ecosystem stewardship.

AHSTI is currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented volunteer to assist our Servicing Department during a critical time each month.

Each month, during the second week, our Servicing Department prepares and mails important statements and documents to our customers. This process is time-sensitive and essential to ensuring families receive the information they need without delays. With our current staffing needs, we’re looking for volunteers to help us stay on track.

As a volunteer, you’ll assist with hands-on tasks such as folding statements, inserting them into envelopes, sealing, and organizing outgoing mail. While simple, this work plays a critical role in supporting our mission and keeping our operations running smoothly.

The commitment would be approximately 2–3 hours per day for 3–5 days (in the mornings) during the second week of each month, depending on the workload.

Your time and effort will directly contribute to helping families receive timely communication and support from our organization.

Help Estero Llano Grande State Park's pollinators thrive by removing invasive plants and encourage beneficial native plant growth. This ongoing volunteer project helps pollinators like bees, butterflies, and other insects have plenty of food and shelter that they need to survive and help pollinate other native plants. 

Examples of work for this kind of project include removing invasive guinea grass, trimming plants, seed collection, and other related habitat work. It can be tough work, but the bees and butterflies really do appreciate the help!

Moody Clinic is seeking dedicated UTRGV students to help provide childcare during our Family Support Group, which meets every 2nd Wednesday of the month. While parents participate in the session, volunteers will care for and engage with their children through conversation, play, or simple crafts.

Volunteer Duties:
Student volunteers will provide supervised childcare for Moody Clinic patients while their parents attend the Family Support Group session. Duties include:

Engaging with children in a friendly and respectful manner through conversation, play, and simple craft activities.

Creating a positive and inclusive environment where every child feels comfortable, supported, and safe.

Monitoring children’s behavior and needs throughout the session and notifying Moody Clinic staff if additional assistance is needed.

Collaborating with Moody Clinic staff members to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all children.

Assisting with basic cleanup or putting away materials after activities.

Volunteers will not perform any medical care; Moody Clinic staff will be on-site to provide support if a child requires additional attention.

Many of the children have special needs such as Down Syndrome, Autism, Spina Bifida, or Cerebral Palsy. Volunteers are expected to treat all children with respect and professionalism. No medical care is required—Moody Clinic staff members will be present to assist as needed.

Open to students from all majors (Education and Social Work preferred)

Experience working with children with special needs is preferred but not required

The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights is looking for volunteer Child Advocates. We are in need of bilingual, Spanish speaking, volunteers in the McAllen, Edinburg, Brownsville, Harlingen, and Corpus Christi, TX and surrounding areas.

Make a difference in the life of an unaccompanied immigrant child by volunteering to serve as a Child Advocate. A Child Advocate is an adult who volunteers to spend time with and advocate on behalf of an individual unaccompanied immigrant child while he or she is subject to deportation proceedings. We get to know prospective volunteers through an initial screening interview, an application and reference check, and at the required two-day training. Once assigned to an individual child, each Child Advocate receives continuing training, support, and supervision from the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights.

As a Child Advocate, you commit to:

Help us fight hunger by volunteering in our Senior Box Program station where we prepare boxes of nutritious food to improve the health of elderly people or in our Product Recovery station where we inspect, sort, and clean product received from local food drives and retail donations. While these two stations are where volunteers help most often, opportunities may change based on necessity in other departments.

The Treasurer Committee helps ensure that every dollar raised is used wisely and reported transparently. Their work directly supports our ability to serve hundreds of families each year through our programs, such as toy drives, community meals, and holiday assistance. The committee’s efforts strengthen the foundation that allows our outreach to grow. The Treasurer Committee within Operation Christmas RGV plays a vital role in supporting the financial integrity and transparency of our nonprofit. This committee works closely with our Treasurer to assist with budgeting, record-keeping, fundraising logistics, and financial reporting.

French, Spanish, and speakers of other languages needed for document translation to assist individual's work authorization applications. 

When individuals submit documents to the court and other adjudicators, all of the documents must be presented in English.  We launched Remote Translator Program in February 2021 as an effort to extend our ability to provide translation assistance to the individuals we serve. These documents may include things that will be presented before immigration court and/or other agencies, such as identity documents and declarations. 

Work may be done remotely.  Turnaround time for a document will vary.

We are seeking dedicated individuals to assist with ongoing janitorial and groundskeeping duties to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at our facility. This opportunity is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and includes tasks both inside and outside the building.

Volunteers will be responsible for sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, cleaning windows, and maintaining staircases. Outdoor responsibilities include trimming trees and bushes, sweeping exterior areas, caring for flower beds (including adding mulch when needed), and collecting trash in and around the parking lot.

All volunteers must complete a 5-hour orientation, pass a background check, and adhere to established volunteer rules. The minimum age requirement is 18 years, with no maximum age limit for those able to perform the duties.

Communal cat rooms allow you to enjoy the attention of multiple kitties. But cats also need care, like having clean litter boxes, fresh water and food. Members of the kitty committee commit to taking care of the cat room duties one day per week. That means cleaning litter, ensuring fresh water and kibble are available and dispensing canned food. It also helps to sweep the floor to provide a clean environment for the cats to play. Then is play time. You can use toys and laser pointers to encourage exercise and play, or you can enjoy the cuddle cats that like to be held and loved on. Most of the kitties really like positive attention and reward you with plenty of purrs!

BARCC volunteer duties include cleaning and feeding animals, grooming and exercising animals and attending outreach events. Volunteers working alongside our team are given thorough instructions on how to properly clean kennels, feed, and care for the animals.

Join us on Saturday mornings as we do land stewardship projects for Quinta Mazatlan. Volunteers will get to learn more about local ecology, sustainable landscaping practices, RGV biodiversity, and more, all while giving back to the ecosystems that support us.

They will provide emergency/disaster information and referrals to the general public by softphone (online telephone), and are responsible to document the referrals provided and client’s demographics. All equipment needed for calls will be provided. This will be in an office space setting. 

COVID-19 Protocols: To maintain a safe environment for all volunteers we require the use of a face mask for anyone in the office (face mask not provided). There will be a sanitation station were hand sanitizer and disinfecting spray/wipes will be available for volunteers. Volunteer's workstation will be disinfected before and after every shift.

Get your exercise while you exercise a dog! Lots of great dogs need to get out of their pens so they can enjoy getting to stretch their legs and smell nature. They need to spend time socializing with new people and learning how to walk politely on a leash in order to prepare them for adoption. Some of the dogs would enjoy jogging as well. Some days, if you don't want to do a lot of walking, you can take the dog(s) to the play-yards where you can throw a ball or let them run around and entertain themselves. A variety of dogs are ready to show you around the property and show you their terrific personalities.

Student volunteers are needed to serve at the food pantry and special events. Food pantry tasks include: sorting, inventory, weighing, and distribution of items.

We want to help transition those experiencing homelessness into permanent, self-sustaining living by building a personal connection with each of these individuals. We aim to improve the individual's housing, health status, and social support network with services such as resume building, applying for benefits, case management, job search, hygiene kits, and snack bags. As a volunteer, help medical providers, including doctors, nurses, counselors, and medical assistants, who volunteer their time to provide non-emergency care. Note: need varies based on the availability of medical providers.

We believe that no one should be denied access to proper hygiene because of their housing situation. In our hygiene program, individuals receive shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and a fresh change of clothes at no cost when they shower at Good Neighbor. Additionally, our laundry program promotes public health and our clients' personal dignity and respect. As a volunteer, you will contribute to this mission while assisting the team in ensuring access to basic sanitation needs, including showers, clothing, laundry, and haircuts. 

As a volunteer, you will work with the garden masters to help plant, harvest, landscape, and beautify our space. Your efforts will help our kitchen team create healthier meal options with ingredients produced in our own backyard. Please remember to wear closed-toe shoes, full-length pants, and shirts with sleeves, as you will be working outside.

Tutoring can range from English, math, science, and many more subjects. Students will range from young elementary age to adults seeking further education.
