Help us promote sexual health and healthy relationships in our community.

As a volunteer, you are not just a helper but an integral part of our team. Your role in our education and outreach efforts, whether it's labeling brochures, bundling condoms, creating promotional buttons, or organizing supplies, is invaluable and greatly appreciated. 

Most volunteer work is done at our administration office, 916 E. Hackberry, Suite A, McAllen, Monday through Friday. We also offer limited volunteer opportunities to help staff with outreach at the UTRGV Edinburg campus; please let us know by email if you are interested.

Access Esperanza Clinics is the largest and oldest sexual and reproductive health agency along the South Texas border. We're 60 years strong and serve over 15,000 adults and teens annually. We offer health check-ups, birth control, STD testing/treatment, and other preventive health services. Most patients pay little to nothing for their care. The Community Council of the Rio Grande Valley is looking for dedicated volunteers to assist with emergency and disaster-related calls. We provide all necessary equipment, and mileage to the site will be reimbursed.

We want to help transition those experiencing homelessness into permanent, self-sustaining living by building a personal connection with each of these individuals. We aim to improve the individual's housing, health status, and social support network with services such as resume building, applying for benefits, case management, job search, hygiene kits, and snack bags. As a volunteer, you will assist our street outreach team in providing services to individuals who cannot visit our facilities, supplying individuals with hygiene kits, meals, and bare essential supplies. Please note that there is a minimum hour requirement of 4 hours, as this position consists of driving around neighboring areas to provide our services.

This training opportunity is open to volunteers that would like to serve in American Red Cross shelters.

As a volunteer, help medical providers, including doctors, nurses, counselors, and medical assistants, who volunteer their time to provide non-emergency care. Note: need varies based on the availability of medical providers.

We believe that no one should be denied access to proper hygiene because of their housing situation. In our hygiene program, individuals receive shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and a fresh change of clothes at no cost when they shower at Good Neighbor. Additionally, our laundry program promotes public health and our clients' personal dignity and respect. As a volunteer, you will contribute to this mission while assisting the team in ensuring access to basic sanitation needs, including showers, clothing, laundry, and haircuts. 

As a volunteer, you will work with the garden masters to help plant, harvest, landscape, and beautify our space. Your efforts will help our kitchen team create healthier meal options with ingredients produced in our own backyard. Please remember to wear closed-toe shoes, full-length pants, and shirts with sleeves, as you will be working outside.

This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) department. The Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officer ensures timely activation and monitoring of local and regional DAT responses. The Duty Officer supports the DAT program either at the chapter/territory or region level. The following are requirements:  

1. Reliable access to a computer, internet, and a phone. 2). Comfortable using and learning new technology; 3) Commitment to use RC and RC respond system as needed; 4) Able to prioritize multiple task in complex; 5) Must be 18 years or older; 6) strong written and verbal communication skills; 7) ability to speak clearly on the phone; 8) Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies

A front office clerk in your organization will be responsible for greeting and welcoming visitors, assisting with the making of applications, and communicating with the team when someone arrives to see them or their specific service.

Tutoring can range from English, math, science, and many more subjects. Students will range from young elementary age to adults seeking further education.

UTRGV faculty member Dr. Carina Marques, PhD in Biological Anthropology, Assistant Professor of the Anthropology Department, College of Liberal Arts, the School of Integrative Biological and Chemical Sciences (SIBCS), and coordinator of the UTRGV’s Forensic Anthropology Research Laboratory (FAR-LAB) is willing to assist Brooks County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) in the search and recovery of deceased migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

UTRGV faculty member Dr. Carina Marques, PhD in Biological Anthropology, Assistant Professor of the Anthropology Department, College of Liberal Arts, the School of Integrative Biological and Chemical Sciences (SIBCS), and coordinator of the UTRGV’s Forensic Anthropology Research Laboratory (FAR-LAB) is willing to assist Brooks County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) in the search and recovery of deceased migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

This program provides food security by distributing pantry bags tailored for low-income and elderly clients and special packages for unhoused individuals. Volunteer duties include receiving and organizing items from the food bank.

We are looking for people who know ASL or are ASL teachers who want to volunteer their time to help us learn common phrases in ASL as well as communicate to our clients who want to learn ASL.

Special Olympics Texas has created a Virtual Platform for continued engagement, which has grown over the past months, since the pandemic began. We are in search of individuals who are interested to become a part of the virtual team for us, whether it is through building content, sharing ideas, or joining out virtual training team.
