Vaqueros Volunteer Day
Vaqueros Volunteer is a one day of service project across the Rio Grande Valley during the third week of April during National Volunteer week. Vaqueros Volunteer offers students, faculty, staff, and alumni to ascend throughout the Rio Grande Valley to assist Nonprofit community partners in a wide range of community service projects. By volunteering, participants experience first-hand needs of their community, the importance of leading through service, and the value of giving back. The unique inclusion of faculty and staff to participate with students provides the opportunity for students to network and cultivate new relationships which can enrich their student life experience, a sense of belonging, and connection to campus.
Those who participate in Vaqueros Volunteer will:
- Learn and develop further knowledge of community needs in the Rio Grande Valley.
- Develop an awareness of current issues affecting areas they live in and interact with.
- Build a network of community serving individuals that exist among peer students, staff, and faculty at UTRGV.
- Gain critical thinking skills as well as personal growth.
