Who We Are
Make-A-Wish® Rio Grande Valley was founded in 1997 and serves the six southernmost counties in Texas (Brooks, Cameron, Hidalgo, Kenedy, Starr, and Willacy Counties). We have granted approximately 1,700 wishes. All money raised in the Valley stays to help the children of the Valley.
For a child with a critical illness, a wish is an opportunity to dream. It is a time for children to go far from the reality of doctors and hospitals they face daily to a world of fantasy and imagination. A wish is a day or a week without a thought of being sick and a time just to remember being a kid. The smiles, laughter, and tears of joy are symptoms these children and families would not trade in for the world. The power of a wish cannot be measured, but we do know that many times a wish provides a reason to continue fighting.
