Who We Are
Mission
To foster healing for grieving children and youth, their families, and the community.
What We Do
Grief Education Institute
The Valley Center is committed to being a community partner and serving as a unique resource for Deep South Texas and its residents. Grief training sessions will be offered throughout the year through the Grief Education Institute to school districts, community organizations, healthcare providers, students in the behavioral sciences, and the general public starting in July of 2016.
Peer Support Groups and Counseling Services
Peer support groups are the heart of the healing process at the Center and are designed to help children and families develop the relationships and tools needed to cope with a death loss. These groups help families experiencing different types of death loss, including chronic illness, suicide, homicide, and sudden death of a parent, sibling, or other family member. Our center is housed in a home-like setting, which accommodates various expressive art modalities to assist children and their families in the healing process.
