BCFS Health and Human Services

Who We Are

BCFS is a global system of health and human service nonprofit organizations with locations and programs across the U.S. and abroad. Our mission is to help at-risk young adults and foster youth transition into independent adulthood and self-sufficiency, and provide a safe place for youth to access community resources.

What We Do

Services offered to youth:

•Preparation for Adult Living (PAL): PAL provides transition services to foster youth and alumni from ages 15 1/2 to 21 in order to better prepare young adults for emancipation

•Education and Training Voucher (ETV) Scholarship Program: ETV provides funding that will help youth receive education, training and services not covered by another funding source •Case Management

•Assistance with Education, Employment and Housing Location

•E3 Program - Educate, Empower, Encourage: E3 program helps young people make wise choices regarding their sexual health and wellbeing by choosing abstinence. BCFS-McAllen provides abstinence education training to 7th grade students in Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Middle School. Participation in the 12-week program is voluntary for students.

•Making Proud Choices (MPC): Interactive course that educates youth ages 15-19 on safe sex, sexual health, STDs, birth control and pregnancies through engaging activities

•Seventeen Days: Program for young women ages 15-19 featuring an interactive video about sexual health and pregnancy prevention

•Texas Workforce Commission (TWC): Services for former or current foster youth ages 16-25 who are seeking employment or help accessing GED programs - A Workforce Advocate and Case Manager help the youth apply for jobs, polish resumes and obtain interview attire

Services offered to families:

•Texas Families: Together and Safe (TFTS): TFTS provides parent trainings and support groups to prevent child abuse and neglect
