Mysterious Cosmos Family Fun Night: Meteor Marvels
Do you enjoy astronomy and enjoy giving back to the community? IMAS is seeking volunteers to help our education team facilitate engaging hands hands-on STEAM activities during our next Family Fun Night.
Description of Event: Shoot into IMAS and learn about our solar system’s marvelous meteors that helped build the planets that we know today. Bring your friends and family and learn about the cosmos through hands-on activities, presentations and more! Don’t forget to bring a foldable chair and enjoy the night sky as we look through telescopes provided by UTRGV’s Center of Excellence in STEM Education.
Volunteer duties: (The complete list will be updated in the next days, these duties are an idea of what would be happening.)
- Guide children and families through astronomy-focused STEAM activities in the Science Lab and Art Studio.
- Provide hands-on support to ensure participants understand and enjoy the activities.
- Hand out materials needed for the activities and ensure stations stay stocked.
- Help reset activity areas between groups to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
After volunteers register, a follow up email will be send to volunteers to fill out the required Waiver of liability form before volunteering. Activity instruction will be provided by Education staff day of event upon arrival.
