Event Description: Easter Celebration: preserving community traditions and enjoying time with family members at a special place—On Saturday, April 12, the Museum of South Texas History hosts "¡Cascarón!", from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 200 N. Closner Blvd.
Activities: This event features Easter-inspired arts and crafts, eggshell decorating, out-loud story reading, an Easter hat parade, face painting, an Easter egg hunt, an Easter backdrop for picture taking with "Harvey, the Bunny," a bilingual book give-out, Food Bank RGV donations, and a food truck on premises to buy snacks.
Volunteer Duties:
- Very kindly and explicitly inform and guide visitors to different activity locations
- Help with arts and crafts instructions and making, as well as with eggshell decoration
- Help put egg-shells for egg hunt in place
- Guide Easter-hat parade through the museum's hallway
- Guide children ready to leave to the Food Bank area to gather food donations
- Help give out book donations for children as they exit
- Help gather chairs, tables, and signage at the end of the event
Volunteer Requirements: Adults with valid ID must arrive at least 30 minutes before the event and be willing to go the extra mile for visitors.
Dress code: Jeans, preferably NOT torn, are acceptable, but shorts are not. Sports t-shirts would be fine, as would comfortable shoes or tennis shoes.
