IMAS is seeking out going and motivated volunteers to assist the Education team facilitate educational hands on activities at Girl Scouts Day @ IMAS this June 14th from 10 AM to 1 PM. Volunteers will be placed in hands on areas with the most need on the day of dependent on registrations.
Girl Scouts Day is the culminating educational event to celebrate the 2024-2025 Girl Scout Workshop season. Each activity in the museum reflects one of the badge workshops offered at IMAS this year.
Activities will consist of Art and Science themed badges such as Bugs, Art & Design, Craft and Tinker, Space Science Investigator and Space Science Explorer Badges.

Science On A Sphere Theatre: Our Stars Lifecyle Flip Book
- Description: Assist visitors as they learn about our Sun and it’s star lifecycle and explore the different stages in the life of a star by creating a flipbook, a small book with a series of pictures that change gradually from page to page. This activity is inspired by The Universe in Motion: DIY Flipbooks, an activity developed by the Chandra X-ray Observatory.
MPU Biozone Lab: Spin Art -Snap Circuit Tinkering
- Description: Help visitors create a work of spin art with Snap Circuit projects inspired by Girl Scouts Craft and Tinker Badge. Circuits need to create a complete path to allow electricity to flow and turn your DC motor on. Then place your paper circle on the motor axle and carefully add different colors of markers to the paper and watch how the motor creates mini works of spin art!
Art Station: Mixed Media Watercolor paintings
- Description: Assist IMAS Educators and visitors with artistic creations inspired by Girl Scouts Art & Design Badge. Visitors will create a colorful work of mixed media watercolor art. Experiment with watercolor, oil pastels and more!
Galleries: Buzzing Bee’s Anatomy Craft
- Description: Buzzing Bee’s and other pollinators and crucial to a healthy planet. Help visitors create and craft their 3D Bee Anatomy chart with cardstock. Volunteers will assist the Education team with distribution of materials and keeping a clean workshop for visitors to create their bees!
