Commitment: Minimum 100 hours of service
Description: Students support the medical care team in assisting with daily care of sea turtle patients and resident sea turtles at the facility. Responsibilities may include helping prepare and distribute animal diets, assisting with habitat maintenance and water quality testing, cleaning tools and equipment, animal enrichment, and supporting staff with routine care tasks that contribute to recovery and rehabilitation. This position provides direct exposure to veterinary care of sea turtle patients.
Schedule / Hours: Shifts typically range between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, split into 2–4 hour increments based on assignment.
Location: South Padre Island, Texas — onsite or offsite depending on activities.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Complete volunteer application
- Attend New Volunteer Training
