Commitment: Minimum 100 hours of service
Description: Students assist conservation staff with seasonal monitoring and protection efforts. In spring, volunteers may patrol beaches (via UTV or truck) and monitor corral for daytime hatching during sea turtle nesting season. In fall, volunteers may assist with monitoring activities around jetties and patrolling beaches to detect sick or injured turtles. Provides hands-on exposure to wildlife conservation and coastal ecosystem stewardship.
Schedule / Hours: Shifts typically range between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, split into 2–4 hour increments based on assignment.
Location: South Padre Island, Texas — onsite or offsite depending on activities.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Complete volunteer application
- Attend New Volunteer Training
