GLADYS PORTER ZOO - BROWNSVILLE
Students will report to the Gran Salon on the Brownsville UTRGV campus for Orientation and Lunch (provided) at 11:15 am and will depart from the campus at 12:00 pm. Volunteers will return to campus by 4:00 pm.
All volunteers will receive a drawstring backpack with a Vaqueros Volunteer T-Shirt, water bottle, and UTRGV sunglasses. All students must wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops) and the Vaqueros Volunteer T-shirt while performing volunteer duties.
Volunteers will be working in the garden area of the Zoo. There are other areas as well behind the scenes that need to be cleared of overgrown shrubs and grass. Volunteers will also be planting new greenery and watering needed areas.
Zoo staff will provide necessary gardening and grooming tools and the Vaqueros Volunteer staff will provide the necessary hand and eye protection.
A student response form must be submitted at the end of the event before hours are approved.
