Volunteer with CSI at Good Neighbor Settlement House in Brownsville on MLK Day of Service!

Good Neighbor Settlement House exists to provide help, hope, and opportunity to men, women, and children in need. Services are offered to the near homeless and homeless in our community.
Volunteers will assist in the following areas:
- Kitchen: clean, prep for lunch and dinner
- Mesa Llena Food Program: re-stock shelves, clean, reorganize pallets and crates, distribute groceries, make new grocery bags for families, make goodie bags for homeless
- Welcome Center: make goodie bags, reorganize shelves and supplies, and clean
- Client Services: make outreach bags, organize portable building, and clean
Dress Code: Closed toe or tennis shoes, full-length pants, and shirts with sleeves. Please do not wear flip-flops, sandals, mini-skirts, leggings, warmers, tank-tops or sleeve-less shirts, or dangling jewelry.
Lunch will be provided, and volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and lunchbox.

About MLK Day of Service
In 1994, Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act, designating the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a "day on, not a day off." It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems. The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community."
